A wool sweater doesn't need to be washed frequently. Wool is a naturally bactericidal and breathable fiber: it wicks away moisture and neutralizes odors.

Ventilate rather than wash

If your sweater isn't stained, there's no need to machine wash it. Simply hang it out to air dry for a few hours, ideally in a ventilated area. The humidity will help the fiber regain its freshness.

Spot and delicate washing

If washing is really necessary:
By hand : immerse it in cold or lukewarm water (max 30°C) with a special wool detergent, without rubbing or twisting. Press gently to make the soapy water penetrate.
Machine wash : cold "wool" or "delicate" cycle, with minimal spin (400-600 rpm). A laundry net can prevent it from losing its shape.

Drying without deformation

Never wring out violently, put in the dryer or hang directly, this will relax or shrink the fibers. For optimal drying:

• Squeeze out excess water into a terry towel.
• Dry the sweater flat on a flat surface, away from sunlight and a direct heat source (no radiator).

Storage and regular maintenance

• Light brushing from time to time to remove dust and revive the fibers.
• Anti-pilling : Use a wool comb to remove any lint.
• Storage : Fold your sweater rather than hanging it to prevent it from losing its shape.
